The most effective physical therapy treatments involve a combination of individualized manual therapy interventions combined with targeted exercise. This winning combination of manual treatment and therapeutic exercise has been proven to help you recover most conditions. All sessions are customized to fit your needs.
Manual treatment consists of many techniques including mobilization, manipulation, soft tissue techniques, and muscle stretching.

Dry Needling

Dry needling (DN) is a technique used to reduce your pain and improve your movement. It is an effective technique that can help speed up your recovery and return to activity.
DN is utilized with the goal of releasing or inactivating muscular trigger points to relieve pain or improve range of motion. It helps to restore normal function of soft tissue and joints. Research supports that dry needling improves pain control, reduces muscle tension, and normalizes dysfunction.

Myofascial Release & IASTM

Myofascial Release and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Massage (IASTM) is a safe and effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore movement. Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures can create Myofascial restrictions that can produce pain and mobility restrictions. The use of Myofascial Release allows us to look at each patient as a unique individual to reduce pain, improve mobility and enhance function. Ascent Physical Therapy and Performance applies hands-on treatments utilizing a multitude of Myofascial Release techniques and movement therapy.
Functional Movement Screening (FMS)
The FMS is a tool used to identify asymmetries which result in movement deficiencies. The FMS aims to identify imbalances in mobility, stability, and compensatory movement patterns. The test utilizes movement patterns designed to provide observable performance of basic locomotor, manipulative, and stabilizing movements by placing an individual in positions where weaknesses and imbalances become noticeable if appropriate mobility and motor control is not utilized. Once these deficiencies have been identified through the FMS, a program of corrective exercises is then developed with the goal of preventing musculoskeletal injuries and improving performance.

VO2/RMR testing

Weight loss or fitness goals? RMR testing helps you determine the number of calories you need to eat each day to lose or maintain your weight. VO2 testing is the best indicator of your cardiovascular fitness and aerobic endurance. Overall VO2 and RMR testing help measure your aerobic capacity, fuel economy, muscle composition and fat burning efficiency.
If you’re looking for the most accurate test that can be used in real training conditions, it’s here. From professional teams to the physical therapy clinic PNOĒ offers the gold standard in cardiovascular health assessment, exercise and diet prescription without the limitations of the lab. The PNOĒ device can be stationary or portable allowing you to achieve the most accurate testing results based on real environments, not the artificial environment of the lab!
In the case of endurance athletes, training zones and other proceedings generated from a lab-based VO2max test (e.g. optimal pace, timing to consume gels) conducted in the lab cannot be accurately used during a race since humidity, temperature, and windspeed conditions almost always differ from those in the lab. In the case of CrossFit, MMA, or basketball athletes, the proceedings of a lab-based VO2max test provide almost no guidance to their trainings since the type of muscle stimulus during their sports is fundamentally different from that experienced in the lab.
PNOĒ offers the most comprehensive and insightful health assessment there is. In just 10 minutes it will reveal your cardiac, pulmonary and metabolic health while providing all the information necessary to develop the most accurate nutrition and workout plan.
